Man accused of impersonating military officer

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah man is accused of impersonating a military officer.

Kyle Barwan, 22, of Paducah is charged with theft by deception and could face federal charges.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department  received several complaints about a man impersonating a U.S. Army Warrant Officer with Special Forces for monetary gain.

Barway was taken to the McCracken County Jail.

Caregiver arrested for stealing medication

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A caregiver was arrested for stealing medication.

Edith Trent, 45, is charged wtih theft of a controlled substance.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department was contacted on May 8 about a theft of medication from a home at 3780 Old US Highway 45.

A bottle of 475 ml of liquid 7.5 Hydrocodone had been taken from the home.

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The 27th annual Purchase Area Senior Games will be May 14-18.

The Opening Day on Monday will be held at the Sports Plex in Paducah and will be indoors. Events will include basketball shoot, golf putting, football toss, cookie stacking, marble shooting, horseshoes, track and field and more.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in 10 age groups for both males and females. Red, white and blue ribbons will be awarded for the "fun games" for the less competitive.

A one-time, non-refundable $7 registration fee will entitle you to participate in all the events and official game t-shirt. Organizers say additonal fees are required for bowling and the golf tournament.

4 injured in crash near Reidland

REIDLAND, KY (KFVS)- Four people were injured in a two vehicle crash on US 62 (Ky. Dam Road) in the Reidland area.

Kelly Johnson, 19, of Paducah was driving a 2004 Dodge Neon eastbound on Ky. Dam Rd. when a 2002 Ford Windstar van driven by Bradley Turner, 44, of Paducah tried to turn left from Park Street and cross the eastbound lane of US 62.

Turner did not see the car and pulled into Johnson's path, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

Johnson had two passengers with her.  Jessica Myers, 19, of Paducah and Samarriah Catlett, 4, of Smithland were injured.

The two drivers and two passengers were taken to the hospital. 

The vehicle crash blocked US 62/Kentucky Dam Road at Park Road in the Reidland area for about an hour.

This is in the 5500 block of KY Dam Road in front of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District One Office.

WKCTC nursing students receive nursing pins

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s nursing department held its pinning ceremony for May 2012 graduates on Friday in the Clemens Fine Arts Center.

Seventy-two nursing students crossed the stage to receive nursing pins in their respective programs with 48 receiving pins representing the completion of the associate degree in nursing program and 24 receiving pins representing the completion of the practical nursing program.

The pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of newly-graduated nurses into the nursing profession.
