Ky. woman injured after being hit by car

MCCRACKEN COUNY, KY (KFVS)- A Kentucky woman was injured after being hit by a car in McCracken County.

It happened Saturday evening around 9 p.m. in the in the parking lot of the Bingo
Hall on Clarks River Road.

According to the sheriff's office, Daniel
Collier, 43, of Paducah was turning around in a car in the
parking lot when his vehicle struck Dolores Lamb, 61, of Providence who was walking towards her vehicle.

Lamb was taken to Western Baptist Hospital for non-life threatening
injuries.

Mercy
Regional Ambulance Service and Reidland Fire Department assisted deputies on
scene.

Car engulfed in flames after head-on crash

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS)- A car was engulfed in flames after a head on crash Saturday evening in McCracken County.

According to the sheriff's office, it happened around 6 p.m. on US Highway 62 near the 7400 block.

Deputies say Treylan Gray, 19, swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting a vehicle that was stopped waiting to turning left in front of him.  Gray's truck then hit head-on with an eastbound pickup truck driven by Jamie Williams, 42, of Bardwell.

According to the sheriff's office, after colliding head-on both vehicles left the road and Gray's car became engulfed flames.

People in both vehicles were helped by those at the scene. All  were able to get out of their vehicles and were not injured by the fire, according to deputies.

Williams and three passengers were taken by Mercy EMS to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Paducah Water Distribution Superintendent receives Earl T. Mitchell Award

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Paducah Water Distribution Superintendent Barry Bolin was presented with the prestigious Earl T. Mitchell Award at the opening ceremony of the annual Kentucky Water and Wastewater Operators' Association.

The conference was held on April 16 in Louisville.

Bolin had been an employee of Paducah Water for nearly 18 years. The award was created and named after a long-time Paducah Water employee. It is a statewide recognition across the four chapters of the KWWOA.

Criteria for the Earl T. Mitchell Award required Bolin to have 10 or more years of professional involvement in the water or wastewater industry, and that he demonstrated a special commitment to the improvement of the management and technical progression of operations, maintenance and water quality in Paducah.

According to Paducah Water, Bolin was unaware that he was up for the award, and therefore, when he heard his name called as the recipient it was a big surprise.

Paducah man facing various drug charges after police chase

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS)- A Paducah man is accused of running from deputies late Thursday and faces various drug charges.

James I. Dawson, III, 25, of Paducah was charged with fleeing or evading police 2nd degree on foot, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree cocaine, trafficking in marijuana-less than 8 oz. and a felony probation violation warrant.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, a McCracken County Sheriff K-9 deputy saw a man walking down South 9th street in front of the W.B Sanders Retirement Center.

Deputies were in that area looking for a robbery suspect that had just occurred in the block of 9th and Jones Street.

As a deputy was trying to get out of the car and talk with Dawson, the man fled from authorities on foot for several blocks.

Dawson was later caught at the corner of Walter Jetton and Kentucky Avenue.

(KFVS) - Registration is open for the 4th Annual 5KFVS.

On May 19, starting at 8:30 a.m., you can run through downtown Cape Girardeau with the Heartland News Team. The start and finish will be at South Main Street in front of Hutson's Furniture. A one mile fun run will follow at about 9:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $25 for the 5KFVS run/walk and $10 for the one mile fun run. You can mail the entry fee with the registration form. Make checks payable to KFVS12. Checke in and packet pick up will be May 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at KFVS12 or May 19 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the race site. Proceeds go to the United Way of Southeast Missouri.
