Police arrest 1 man for meth, look for another after search of Boaz home

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested one man and is looking for another after an investigation and search of a Boaz home revealed meth was being sold there.

According to the sheriff's department, a lengthy investigation led detectives to get a search warrant for a Boaz home and business located at 7845 Wice Church Road in McCracken County near the Graves County line on Wednesday afternoon.

Tactical teams from McCracken and Marshall County Sheriff's Departments, as well as drug enforcement agents from both agencies searched the home at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2.

The sheriff's department says the investigation showed that meth was being sold there, as well as guns being owned and present during the illegal drug activity.

As officers entered the property, they say one man ran out of the side of the business into a very dense wooded area and escaped.

Hospital's Relay for Life captain volunteers for daughter, patients

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Western Baptist radiation therapy technician Jason Heilig has more than one good reason to captain the hospital’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life team.

Heilig has worked nine years in Western Baptist’s nationally-accredited Center for Cancer Care. The hospital says compassion for his patients influenced his decision to volunteer.

“What I have found through the years is that this is not so much a job, as it is a calling,” Heilig said. “The best explanation I can give for why I do what I do is rooted in 1 Corinthians 13:13, ‘So now faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.’ I have faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, hope that every day will be better than the one before and love for each person I meet.”

Heilig has another inspiration at home – his 6-year-old daughter, Alli, a first grader at Christian Fellowship School in Draffenville.
