Open house for Highlands Latin School

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - An open house will be held for The Highlands Latin School.

The open house will take place on January 26th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church. The church is located at 701 Broadway. Those in attendance can meet the teachers, administration, and view the curriculum.

Highlands Latin School-Paducah opened last fall with a one day a week program for students who are home schooled. Classes include Latin, math, English, and classical studetns.

WKCTC: Deadline approaching for scholarship applications

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The West Kentucky Community and Technical College is reminding everyone the deadline to apply for a scholarship is March 1 by 4 p.m.

They scholarship applications are only accepted online. You can click here for the application.

WKCTC say the application and supporting documents must be received by this deadline.

They recognize and reward outstanding scholastic achievements by awarding merit-based scholarships and special awards to deserving students.

Market House Theatre to hold audtions for romantic comedy

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Market House Theatre will hold auditions January 23 at 7 p.m.

Auditions will be for the adult romantic comedy "Getting Sara Married."

Directed by Diane Byrd, they need three women and three men. Characters include:

  • Sara Hastings - An unmarried woman in her 30s
  • Aunt Martha - Sara's unpredictable aunt in her 50s/60s
  • Noogie Malloy - A very special delivery man in his 30s - 50s
  • Brandon Cates - A potential husband that Aunt Martha has picked out for Sara in his 30s
  • Heather Boyd - Brandon's fiancee in her 20s/30s
  • Chiropractor - In his 30s/40s (non-speaking part)

Lane restriction scheduled for KY 1322

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A lane restriction on KY 1322 is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24.

Ky. transportation officials say it is at mile marker 6.565 to allow cleaning, and culvert repair.

Use caution as traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

The project is scheduled to be completed on Friday.

Emergency lane restriction on US 45-Lone Oak Road

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS)-

Kentucky transportation officials have announced an emergency lane restriction for Saturday on US 45-Lone Oak Road in McCracken County.

The lane restriction for northbound traffic is to allow Paducah Water Works to repair a water leak.

Officials say northbound traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane near the Little Castle in Lone Oak.

The lane restriction is expected to last 5 to 6 hours.

Motorists should slow down and use appropriate caution in the area where
equipment, flaggers and utility personnel will be on the roadway in
close to traffic flow.

Paducah Symphony announces 2nd annual chorus concert

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Symphony will host their second annual "Made in America" concert on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Harrison Street Baptist Church.

The concert series will feature African American spirituals, art music an hymns. Music selection includes:

  • (Give Me That) Old Time Religion
  • Steal Away
  • If I Can Help Somebody
  • Ezekiel Saw the Wheel

Featured in the concert will be the Paducah Symphony Adult, Youth and Children's choruses with the Murray State Concert Choir. Choruses are under the direction of Dr. Bradley Almquist (Director of Choruses) and Dr. Amy Aucoin (Youth Chorus Director) with Mrs. Devonda Treece as Accompanist.

Admission is $10 for adults and free for students. They symphony says a nursery will be provided by Harrison Street Baptist during the concert. To buy tickets, you can call the PSO Office at 270-444-0065.
