According to Murray State University, grant funds brought 61 high school teachers and 24 MSU faculty members together for two Summer Academics to explore the transition from high school to college with the Kentucky Common core Standards.

One goal of the Senate Bill is to increase the number of Kentucky High School students going to college and decrease the number of remedial courses students are required to take once they get to college.

The standards were approved by Kentucky in February 2010 and are a requirement of the bill passed by the Kentucky General Assembly in 2009.

Traffic restrictions on US 62 in Reidland area

Traffic restrictions on US 62 in Reidland area

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they are continuing work on the new intersection on US 62 at what will become the west end connection for the new US 60 Tennessee River Bridge.

According to KYTC, in recent weeks, most of the work at US 62 mile point 13.588 in the Reidland area has only required a lane restriction along the westbound lanes. They say the contractor has now started reconstructing the crossover between the westbound and eastbound lanes at what used to be the US 62 intersection with Ashland Terminal Road.

Because of work at this site, the contractor has restricted eastbound lanes to one lane starting near Johnny's Body Shop.

KYTC says this means there are now lane restrictions up for both eastbound and westbound traffic in this work zone.

The existing crossover at this site is closed until the reconstruction work is finished.
