Westbond traffic on I-24 to be reduced

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Thursday they plan to reduce westbound traffic to one lane on I-24 starting Monday, August 1.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane at several locations while the McCracken County Highway Maintenance crew works on erosion control starting near the 17 mile marker.

The crew will be placing rock in several washouts along the shoulder, mainly in areas where there is a guardrail. KYTC says this work will require moving lane restrictions as the work moves westward along the westbound lanes.

Engineers expect the work to take an hour or more at each location and KYTC says they will likely cover a mile or two per day.

Westbound drivers can expect all traffic to move to the left-hand or passing lane in the work zone.
