62 year old charged with rape of teenager

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A 62-year-old man is charged with third-degree rape of a teenager.

James Leslie, 62, of Paducah is charged with third-degree rape, which is described as an adult 21 years of age or older having sexual intercourse with a child at least 14 years of age, but less than 16 years of age.

The girl's mother noticed the girl had spending money and asked where it came from.  The girl told her mother that Leslie, a friend of the family, had been giving her cash from time to time.

After more questioning, the girl said she had been involved in a sexual relationship with Leslie since October 2010.  She was 15 at the time the relationship began, according to the Paducah Police Department.

Leslie was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Paducah woman arrested on felony charges after theft

Police say a Ky. woman was arrested on felony charges after a theft from a purse was reported.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, 46-year-old Cynthia Cunningham (Williams) was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft of a controlled substance (class D felony)
  • Tampering with physical evidence (class D felony)
  • Theft by unlawful taking, pick pocket (class D misdemeanor).

Police say 27-year-old Alissa Lewis of reported Saturday that she thought some things were taken from her purse when she gave a ride to Cunningham (Williams) and Robbin Perkins, 40, of Symsonia.

Investigators say they searched Cunningham's home around 7:30 p.m. and found almost all of the stolen items.

The investigation found that Cunningham (Williams) had taken the items and attempted to tamper with evidence.

Cunningham (Williams) was taken to the McCracken County Jail.

Second Saturday gallery walk

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The second Saturday of every month will be a gallery walk in Paducah's LowerTown Arts District.

The next gallery walk will be Saturday, July 9 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The LowerTown art studios and galleries will have extended hours during these second Saturdays and will feature new exhibits and entertainment.

Suspect arrested in home burglary

Police have arrested a Paducah man and charged him with 1st degree burglary of medication and guns.

Cary J. Barrett, 49, of Paducah is charged with the crime.

Police say Barrett of Ridge Lane became a suspect to the burglary of the home of James Jones due to recent cuts to his hands. Police say whoever had entered the home was injured by broken glass.

Michelle Freeman reported the Jones burglary where someone had forcibly entered his home on Ridge Lane and stole medicine and guns, police said.

Investigators say Barrett was responsible for several rifles found behind his home. Barrett later traded additional guns for pain medication.

The guns were recovered in Marshall County with the help of the sheriff's department.

Barrett was taken to the McCraken County Jail.

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Second Annual Awards Ceremony for the Paducah Police Department will be Friday, July 8.

The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. at the Emerging Technology Building on West Kentucky Community and Technical College campus.

At the ceremony, the department recognizes outstanding performances by their staff over the past year. More than 50 awards will be presented this year including: Life Saving Awards, Service Commendations, Safe Driving Awards and special recognitions.

Western Baptist names new member to board of directors

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The newest member of Western Baptist Hospital's board of directors will be Diane Dalton Evans.

Evans, from Mayfield, is president of Invest Financial Corp. in Paducah. She has a master's degree in Business Administration from Murray State University and directs the third and fourth grade choirs at Lone Oak First Baptist Church.

Bikes on Broadway in Paducah

Bikes on Broadway in Paducah

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Bikes on Broadway will take place Sunday, July 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The ride will be between Fourth and 17th Street on Broadway in Paducah. Bring your bikes, strollers or running shoes for a fun day on Broadway. Mechanical assistance will be provided and the Parks Department is looking for groups of people to set up water or lemonade stands.
