Fourth annual event to benefit the Dream Factory

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Dream Factory of Paducah will hold their 4th Annual Buzz the Red, White and Blue event on Saturday, June 26.

The event will be at 10 a.m. at the Youth Center of the Heartland Worship Center located at 4777 Alben Barkley Drive.

The red represents fire fighters, the white emergency medical workers and the blue represents police officers, sheriff's deputies and Kentucky State Police. Members of each organization have been collecting donations for the Dream Factory. At the event, emergency service personnel will get their heads shaved. This "buzz" will symbolize support for children living with cancer and other critical and chronic illnesses.

Lieutenant Patrick Hatton is coordinating the effort with the Paducah Fire Department.

Boaz man charged with collusion in armed robbery

Police say they have arrested and charged a 20-year-old Boaz man with complicity to the robbery for his role in the armed robbery of the Tank and Tote on old U.S. Hwy. 45 on March 29, 2011.

Tanner M. Waid, 20, of Walnut Road in Boaz was arrested and charged with complicity to robbery 1st, according to police.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department has been assisted by the Graves County Sheriff's Department and the Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say this case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the McCracken County Sheriff's Office at 270-444-4719 or Crimestoppers at 270-443-TELL. The person with information leading to the arrest and/or conviction may be eligible for a reward of up to $1000, according to police.

Click it or Ticket campaigns ends, Paducah continues enforcement

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The annual Click it or Ticket campaign has ended, but the city of Paducah says it will continue seatbelt enforcement.

Captain Don Hodgson, who administers the grant-funded program for the Paducah Police Department, called the campaign a success in Paducah. According to the city, officers worked 100 hours of overtime during the campaign that ran from May 23 through June 6.

Paducah Parks Services accepting vendor applications for July 4

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Parks Services will be accepting vendor applications for the July 4 Celebration.

The department will be accepting applications from June 13 at 9 a.m. to June 24.

Eligible vendor applicants include five food vendors and three non-food vendors. You can apply at the Parks Services Building located at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive.

It is first come, first served and you must apply in person.

The July 4 Celebration will include a riverfront concert and fireworks starting at 7:15 p.m. at the Historic Downtown Paducah on the Riverfront

Paducah man arrested for falsely reporting he was robbed

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Police Department announced Tuesday they arrested a man for falsely reporting he was robbed.

According to police, Keith Webb, 39, of Langstaff Avenue reported he was robbed at gunpoint while walking in Noble Park Tuesday morning.

Webb told police he was walking in the park about 8 a.m. when he was approached by a black man who pointed a handgun at his face and demanded his wallet. Webb said the man then ran of foot through the park.

Six police officers and a detective went to the park to search for the robber and investigate. Police say they immediately determined that Webb's story of the crime seemed suspicious.

During questioning, police say Webb finally admitted to making up the story. He was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident.

A Paducah man has been arrested after stating he was robbed at gunpoint while walking in Noble Park Tuesday morning.

Keith Webb, 39, of Paducah was  arrested June 8, 2011 on a charge of falsely reporting an incident.

Webb told police he was walking in the park about 8 a.m. Tuesday when he was approached by a black man, who pointed a handgun at his face and demanded his wallet. Webb said the man then fled on foot through the park, according to the Paducah Police Department.

Six uniformed police officers and Det. Anthony Copeland went to the park to begin a search for the robber and an investigation. After investigating Det. Copeland said that Webb's account of the crime seemed suspicious.

During questioning, police say Webb finally admitted the story was a lie. He was arrested on a charge of falsely reporting an incident and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Police: Paducah man arrested for meeting 13-year-old for sexual encounter

A Paducah man has been arrested after police say he arrived at Paducah's Noble Park Wednesday morning and met a 13-year-old girl for a sexual encounter.

According to Paducah Police,  Nathan A. Dukes, 45, of Paducah was arrested on a charge of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor/peace officer re: sex offenses, a Class D felony.

Det. Sgt. Brian Laird said police were contacted by the parents of a 13-year-old girl after the girl received inappropriate messages of a sexual nature from Dukes on her Facebook page. The girl had met Dukes while attending church with a friend a few months ago.

Police say Laird arranged with the parents to have them call him if Dukes contacted the girl again. Late Tuesday night, the parents called Laird, and met him with their daughter at the police department. Under Laird's supervision, the girl "chatted" with Dukes for about 1½ hours.
