6th Annual Kidz Day in the Arts | Arts & Culture

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The National Quilt Museum will hold their 6th Annual "Kidz Day in the Arts" on Saturday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will also be part of "Community Day," the one day of the year everyone is offered free admission into the museum's galleries. Many of the activities reflect this year's theme of "Happy 20th Birthday to The National Quilt Museum."

Events for the day include:

• 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Free admission to the museum's gallery
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Inflatables on the lawn
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Paducah Bank's WOW! ice cream truck will hand out free ice cream
• 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - See SuSu the Mime as the museum's new "Living Quilt"
• 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Quilt Man, get your picture taken with the super hero
• 10:30 a.m. - Quilt Science Demos, disappearing ink with Jason Lindsey of Hooked on Science
• 11 a.m. - Storytelling in museum gallery with Library Lady Retta Folsom and puppets
• 12 p.m. - Quilt Science Demos, disappearing thread
• 1 p.m. - Storytelling in museum gallery
• 2 p.m. - Quilt Science Demos, Sharpie chromatography

Some other activities throughout the day include:

• Create-a-block with sidewalk chalk
• Design a quilt block with fabric
• Create your own musical instruments
• Add your fabric hand print to Happy Birthday display
• Make and take fabric cupcakes
• Make a colorful braided wristband
• Blowing up smiles balloon animals
