MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Symphony Youth Orchestra is currently in the midst of a holiday fundraiser for their organization which allows the public to cast monetary votes for one of two beloved holiday selections to be performed at the Paducah Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming December 8 concert, “A Christmas Celebration.”
According to monetary votes raised by the PSYO, either “Let it Snow, Let it Snow” or “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” will be performed by the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and Choruses.
The selection that receives the most monetary votes will be performed during the Audience Selection portion of the concert. Online voting has begun and anyone may cast a vote by visiting PaducahSymphony.org prior to the concert. Monetary votes will also be taken the evening of the concert by PSYO members and will conclude at the end of intermission. Donations for the fundraiser are also being accepted by current members of the PSYO as well as in the Paducah Symphony office in Downtown Paducah.
“This is a great way for the students to raise money for the youth orchestra as well as giving the public an opportunity to have a hand in a selection that will be performed the night of the Christmas concert,” said Daniel Sene, Executive Director of the Paducah Symphony. “We encourage everyone to join in on the fun as the anticipation builds to hear which song will be selected.”
The mission of the Paducah Symphony Youth Orchestra is to provide comprehensive symphonic music education opportunities for performance oriented youth in the region, through a full youth symphony program supported by a preparatory string, and instrumental ensemble programs. The intent is not only to refine individual instrumental skills, but to provide varied and numerous performance opportunities, building an appreciation for classical music in the community, and to emphasize the sociability of making music.
