PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The first ever “12 Days of Merriment,” sponsored by Paducah Renaissance Alliance, kicks off Saturday, December 1 with the City of Paducah Christmas Parade at 5 p.m.
The event is intended to showcase independent local businesses in Paducah’s Renaissance District while highlighting the nostalgic ambiance of our historic river city during the holidays. It includes 12 days of extended shopping nights, carolers, holiday food and drink, special events and visits with Santa.
According to PRA, from Dec. 1 to Dec. 12, all two-hour parking restrictions downtown will be lifted to accommodate shoppers.
“Shopping Night for Him” on Dec. 4 will be a night targeted toward women who need to shop for the men in their lives. “Shopping Night for Her” on Dec. 11 will help men who need to find gifts for the special women in their lives.
Holiday food and drink specials include specialty cocktails at everyone’s favorite local watering holes, delicious seasonal entrees by Paducah’s culinary artists, and even nice warm baked goods.
Santa Claus will be at the downtown gazebo Dec. 4, 6, 7,8 and 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. on those week nights, and 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. If you don’t get a chance to visit Santa, a special North Pole mailbox is at the gazebo to drop off letters.
“This Saturday marks the start of a 12-day holiday shopping event with promotions and discounts at over 30 participating stores and restaurants,” said Lisa Thompson, Executive Director of PRA. “The 12 Days of Merriment is getting everyone ready for the jolly season.”
