Lourdes Christmas Market benefits Lourdes Auxiliary, Mission Project

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -   Lourdes Hospital in Paducah has kicked off the holiday season with the 4th Annual Festival of Trees celebration.

The Festival of Trees is a decoration of Christmas trees by hospital departments to raise money for the Lourdes Associates’ Christmas Giving program and the Women’s Center.

The departments donate the decorations and the community is invited to buy a ticket to win their favorite tree.

Raffles are $1. Tickets can be purchased in the Lourdes Gift Shop. 

The winners will be announced at the Christmas Market that benefits Lourdes Auxiliary and Mission Project. 

The Christmas Market is Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lourdes Marshall Nemer Pavilion Plaza. 

The event is free and features more than 25 vendors with jewelry, clothing and Christmas décor.

Paducah Renaissance Alliance's '12 Days of Merriment' kicks off Dec. 1

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The first ever “12 Days of Merriment,” sponsored by Paducah Renaissance Alliance, kicks off Saturday, December 1 with the City of Paducah Christmas Parade at 5 p.m.

The event is intended to showcase independent local businesses in Paducah’s Renaissance District while highlighting the nostalgic ambiance of our historic river city during the holidays. It includes 12 days of extended shopping nights, carolers, holiday food and drink, special events and visits with Santa.

According to PRA, from Dec. 1 to Dec. 12, all two-hour parking restrictions downtown will be lifted to accommodate shoppers.

“Shopping Night for Him” on Dec. 4 will be a night targeted toward women who need to shop for the men in their lives. “Shopping Night for Her” on Dec. 11 will help men who need to find gifts for the special women in their lives.

21 Artists added to Kentucky Crafted Program roster

 

(KFVS) - The Kentucky Arts Council has added 21 new artists into the Kentucky Crafted program.

The program provides opportunities for artists to expand their market reach.

Artists are accepted into the program based on artistic excellence and market readiness as judged by an independent panel of art and craft industry professionals.

"There are now more than 400 professional artists in the Kentucky Crafted program, and many will exhibit at Kentucky Crafted: The Market in March of 2013," said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. "We welcome the new artists into the program and look forward to working with them to provide assistance to help ensure their career success."

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Symphony Youth Orchestra is currently in the midst of a holiday fundraiser for their organization which allows the public to cast monetary votes for one of two beloved holiday selections to be performed at the Paducah Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming December 8 concert, “A Christmas Celebration.” 

According to monetary votes raised by the PSYO, either “Let it Snow, Let it Snow” or “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” will be performed by the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and Choruses.

Market House Theatre to host auditions for 'Duck Hunter Shoots Angel'

 

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Auditions for "Duck Hunter Shoots Angel" will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 29 and Tuesday, October 30 in the studio theatre at the Market House Theatre.

Written by Mitch Albom, the comedy is a funny and heartwarming story of two bumbling down-home Alabama duck hunting brothers who think they have accidentally shot down and angel. Their paths intersect with a tabloid journalist, his reluctant photographer, their crazed box, a shop girl at a local Gas mart, and a half man/alligator and a ghost. Performance dates are January 10-13, and 17-20, 2013.

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - An art exhibit sponsored by the Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company will be on display October 12 through 25 in the atrium of Western Baptist Hospital's Doctors Office Building 2.

"Lilly Oncology on Canvas" features about 30 paintings from the company’s annual competitions since 2004. This is the first time the national touring exhibit has visited Paducah.

Lilly Oncology sponsors the annual competition to help patients and their caregivers cope with the emotional effects of cancer; the 2012 winners will be announced in November.

Western Baptist Hospital, whose cancer treatment program is among the nation’s top 5 percent, sponsors a variety of cancer support and awareness initiatives, including the local Faces of Cancer art exhibit and the Pink Glove Dance.
