Albert Jones Park dedication ceremony Set for Oct. 11 | Community Spirit
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A dedication ceremony for Albert Jones Park will be Thursday, October 11 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony will be at the park at 255 Joe Bryan Drive. A new sign will be unveiled to honor the changing of the name of the park from Henry Clay Park to Albert Jones Park.
In August, the Paducah Board of Commissioners approved the renaming of the park to honor former Mayor Albert Jones. Jones served as Paducah’s mayor from 1996 until 2000. He is a Korean War veteran who has served as Commonwealth attorney, U.S. attorney, and state representative.
“Jones has had a life of public service for the community," said Commissioner Gerald Watkins, who spearheaded the honor for Jones. "He’s one of our local heroes.”
The park is located at the former Henry Clay Elementary School site just northeast of Brooks Stadium, between Joe Bryan Drive, Guthrie Avenue, B Street and South 21st Street. It is approximately 6 acres and has a walking path.
