PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -  The city of Paducah offers many fun events open to the public for the weekend of October 19-20.

Jack-O-Lantern Contest:  The deadline is Friday at 5 p.m. to drop off your jack-o-lantern at the Parks Department.  It’s free for the first entry and $1 for each additional entry.  The jack-o-lanterns will be displayed at tomorrow’s Fountain Avenue Fall Festival.

Downtown Walking Ghost Tours:  Market House Theatre is hosting the Downtown Walking Ghost Tours Friday, 6:30-10 p.m.  This fundraising event takes place on the public sidewalks along Jefferson Street, Kentucky, 2nd Street, Water Street, and the floodwall.  Contact Market House Theatre for more information.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides Walk:  The Great Strides Walk will be held at Noble Park on Saturday, October 20 with activities from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Noble Park will remain open during the walk.  Please use caution as you drive through the park.

Oktoberfest:  Maiden Alley Cinema is hosting an Oktoberfest event on Saturday, October 20.  The alley in front of Maiden Alley will be closed to traffic between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Contact Maiden Alley Cinema for more information.

Down Syndrome Association Buddy Walk:  The Down Syndrome Association of Western Kentucky/Ups 'N Downs is holding the annual Buddy Walk at Noble Park on Saturday, October 20.  The activities will be from noon until 3 p.m.  Noble Park will remain open during the walk.  Please use caution as you drive through the park.

Fountain Avenue Fall Festival:  Come out to Lang Park on Saturday, 5-8 p.m. to enjoy games, free food, hay rides, costume contests, and a movie (“How to Train Your Dragon”) at dusk.  At 5 p.m. there will be a presentation regarding the City’s receiving a $20,000 grant from MetLife.  During the festival, Fountain Avenue from Monroe Street to Lang Park will be closed.  Also closed will be Harrison Street from Fountain Avenue to North 16th; North 16th to Madison Street; and Madison Street from North 16th to Lang Park.

Take Back the Night 5K:  Alpha Epsilon Beta, WKCTC’s local chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association, will hold a 5K event on Saturday, October 20, at 5 p.m. The event is called Take Back the Night 5K Run, Walk, and One Mile Fun Run. Proceeds will benefit Child Watch and Alpha Epsilon Beta.  During the run, the entrances to WKCTC will be closed in addition to PCC Drive which loops around the back of the campus.

Some of these events may affect access to parks or roads this weekend.
