Paducah's Downtown Farmers’ Market now open for application | Community Spirit
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Paducah Renaissance Alliance recently announced planning for the 2013 season of the Downtown Farmers’ Market is underway.
The Farmers’ Market will kick-off during the Quilt Show on Thursday, April 25.
According to the PRA, the market features new hours this year, accommodating a wider range of shoppers in search of fresh, homegrown produce and products: Tuesdays and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursdays 2 to 6 p.m. The evening hours are a perfect opportunity to purchase fresh ingredients for dinner after work.
“We strive to build and strengthen the local-food movement in the Jackson Purchase region, using the Downtown Farmers’ Market to create a vibrant sense of place, providing economic opportunities for farmers and artisanal food producers and showcasing our region's agricultural bounty,” said Lisa Mullins Thompson, Executive Director for PRA. “We aim to create a sustainable urban-rural partnership that brings the blessings of healthy local food to our community and sustain the working landscapes that feed us while making fresh, healthy food available to people of all income levels.”
Farmers who are interested in being vendors for the 2013 Farmers’ Market may apply online at www.paducahalliance.org/farmers-market, or contact PRA at 270-444-8649. All guidelines and instructions are on the website.
