PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Immanuel Baptist Church organist Malissa Heath will present a recital at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3.
Inspired by the region’s response to the dedicatory recital of the new Casavant Freres organ in February 2012 by Dr. Joyce Jones, the church is hosting an annual concert.
This year’s recital will feature selections by J.S. Bach, Cesar Franck and Gordon Young. It is free in the sanctuary of the church at 3465 Buckner Lane.
The organ, installed in 2011, was built by Casavant Freres of Canada.
Heath has been a church organist for 37 years, including the last 15 at Immanuel. She also is the keyboardist for the Paducah Symphony and the Paducah Chamber Society.
Heath holds a bachelor of music education degree from Murray State University and a master’s in piano performance from the University of Kentucky. She teaches piano, handbells and chimes; and she serves as an adjunct professor of music at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
