Kevil man arrested for stolen boat after police chase
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Kevil man was arrested for stolen property after a police chase on May 17.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, a victim reported that their 1969 Ridgeline Aluminum boat had been taken from Old Mayfield Road. They say an investigation revealed that the boat had been taken to and scrapped at Garrett's Recycling on May 8.
Detectives determined that the person responsible for scrapping the stolen boat was Daniel J. Clayton, 39. The sheriff's department said they began searching for Clayton to question him about the stolen boat and learned that he was living on Old Ogden Landing Road in Kevil.
On May 17 around 10 a.m., detectives went to the home and talked to a woman there about Clayton's whereabouts when he was seen pulling into the home. Officers say Clayton saw them and quickly accelerated in obvious efforts to elude detectives.
