PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Two Paducah men have been arrested after police say they were trying to sell stolen items to a local recycling business.
Kenneth Zachary, 38, and George Slaughter, 45, both of North 7th Street in Paducah, were arrested Wednesday, Feb. 8 on charges of receiving stolen property less than $10,000. They were booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
According to the Paducah Police Department, Bruce Shulman of Paducah Printing called them early Wednesday afternoon and said he was on his way to Garrett's Recycling where two men were trying to sell steel dock ramps that had been stolen from his business.
Shulman said the ramps were stolen about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and that he called Garrett's Recycling at tell them in case the thief tried to sell the ramps there. He told police he was gathering paperwork to report the theft to police when an employee at Garrett's called him and said two men had shown up at the business with ramps matching the description of his.
Officer Travis Counts confronted the men, who denied stealing the ramps, but admitted to trying to sell them. Police say the ramps, valued at $1,600, were released to Shulman.
