PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah doctor has been charged with drug trafficking after a lengthy investigation by Kentucky State Police.
Starting in January 2012, KSP says they started investigating Dr. Troy Nelson for allegedly prescribing various narcotics to individuals not under his medical care. They say several tips about Nelson prompted the help of the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Police say the ongoing investigation uncovered several instances of prescriptions being written to people in return for personal favors.
On Friday, June 1, a McCracken County grand jury returned an 11 count indictment for Nelson charging him with seven counts of felony drug trafficking and four counts of misdemeanor drug trafficking.
Nelson, 43, was booked into the McCracken County Jail just after 2 p.m. on Friday.
