Paducah man sentenced on drug charges | Crime
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A McCracken County convicted felon, was sentenced in United States District Court this week by Senior Judge Thomas B. Russell for distribution of crack cocaine,
Alexander Fernandas Sains, 29, of Paducah was sentenced to almost eight years in federal prison followed by a four year term of supervised release after pleading guilty to a three count federal grand jury indictment on February 16, 2012, charging Sains with distribution of crack cocaine.
According to the indictment and plea agreement, on three separate occasions, on June 4, June 8, and July 1, 2010, Sains knowingly and intentionally sold a total of 70.1 grams of crack cocaine.
Sains was previously convicted of first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cocaine, in 2004, in McCracken Circuit Court, and was sentenced to serve five years in prison. In August 2010, Sains was convicted of first degree possession of a controlled substance, in McCracken Circuit Court and was sentence to seven years in prison. The federal sentence of almost eight years was ordered to be served consecutively.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney G. David Sparks and was investigated by the Bowling Green, Ky. Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in partnership with Kentucky State Police DESI West (Drug Enforcement Special Investigations), and the Paducah Police Department, as part of ATF’s ongoing commitment to reduce violent crime and other threats to public safety.
