Paducah man arrested in connection with $10,000 in stolen items | Crime
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah man was arrested Thursday in connection with items valued at $10,000 stolen from storage building.
James R. Mallas, 31, was charged with third degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, Jimmie Terrell reported a storage building at his home on Champ Drive had been burglarized some time between May 26 and 30. Terrell reported several items, including bolts and screws assorted in boxes of 5,000 used for putting up metal buildings; and a push mower were stolen. Terrell estimated the value of the bolts and screws to be about $10,000.
According to the sheriff's department, after discovering a prior burglary to the building, Terrell put a camera in the building in an attempt to capture the thief on camera. They say on June 26 and 30 the camera caught at least two people breaking into the building and one of them was identified as Mallas. Officers say the other person has not been identified at this time.
If anyone has information about the identity of Mallas' accomplice and/or the whereabouts of the stolen items, please contact the McCracken County Sheriff's Department at 444-4719 or Crimestoppers at 443-TELL. Anyone with information leading to the arrest and/or conviction may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
