PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested a Paducah woman for allegedly stealing her sister's identity.
Lora M. Lee, 31, was charged with theft of identity on Friday, July 13.
According to the sheriff's department, on July 9 a woman reported that her identity had been stolen. She told officers the a recent examination of her driving record, which directly affects her employment, revealed a traffic ticket that was issued to her in March 2011. The victim denied that she was the person that received a speeding citation and filed a report with the sheriff's department.
The investigation led detectives to suspect the victim's sister, Lee, as the one responsible.
On July 13, Lee was found and interviewed about the incident. Lee admitted to detectives that she was stopped in 2011 on the date in question and provided the officer with her sister's information, such as date of birth, social security number, etc. Lee told officers she used her sister's identity to avoid being arrested due to her license being suspended at the time of that stop.
Lee was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
