Sheriff's Dept. searching for suspect they say cashed stolen checks under someone else's name | Crime
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department is searching for an unknown individual that allegedly deposited a stolen $125 check into a Reidland bank account while posing as someone else.
According to the sheriff's department, on Nov. 11, Lori Pearson from Murphysboro, Tenn. reported that on Oct. 11 an unknown individual deposited a $125 personal check into her US Bank checking account. Pearson told officers the check was written to her and deposited at the US Bank in Reidland. The sheriff's department says it was determined the check, which was deposited into Pearson's account, had been stolen from an individual in Evergreen, Colo.
Officers say a further investigation revealed that the day before, on Oct. 10, a personal check in the amount of $325, which had been stolen from an individual in Memphis, Tenn., had been written to Pearson's name and cashed at the Draffenville, Ky. US Bank.
Pearson told officers that a couple of years ago she lost her purse that contained all of her personal information. Officers believe the suspect used Pearson's actual identification to cash the check in Draffenville.
