3 people charged in McCracken Co. with drug trafficking near a school | Crime
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department charged three people Monday, February 25 with drug trafficking near a school.
Deante Brown, 20 from Paducah, was charged with trafficking controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
Reco Cunningham, 19 from Paducah, was also charged with trafficking controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
Richard Chance Sidener, 24, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Around 5 p.m. on Monday, detectives were investigating several tips they had received regarding drug offenses in the Forest Hills area of Paducah, Ky. While investigating the tips, detectives say they saw suspicious activity between two vehicles.
Detectives stopped the two vehicles and during the investigation learned that one of the occupants, Brown, had just sold about 2 ounces of marijuana to the driver of the other vehicle, Sidener.
Officers say more marijuana was found in both vehicles as well as on an additional passenger, Cunningham. They say money, believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales, was also seized during the investigation.
Also during the incident, officers say Andrea Orozco, 18 from Paducah, became belligerent and caused alarm in public. They say she interfered with the investigation and was arrested by the Paducah Police Department for disorderly conduct.
Three other people, including a fifteen-year-old juvenile female were involved in the incident. The juvenile was released to her mother. Officers say the investigation is continuing and more charges are expected at a later date.
They say the drug transaction took place in near St. Mary’s School.
