Suspect arrested in connection with trailer theft in Reidland | Crime

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested the suspect after a report of a stolen trailer.

Mark L. Pylant, 52 from Fancy Farm, Ky., was charged with felony theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass third degree and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On Sunday March 3, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 5800 Old Benton Road, Stan’s Body Shop in reference to a stolen trailer. They say the owner noticed it missing and then reviewed video from a surveillance camera system.

From the video, deputies say the truck appeared to be a mid '80s Chevrolet, red in color, with some type of utility or service type bed.

Around 3 p.m. Capt. Matt Carter, along with a Deputy United States Marshal and Kentucky State Police trooper, were in the area of KY 305 Cairo Road and Ogden Landing Road when he saw a vehicle parked in a parking lot that appeared to have been the same truck that was seen in the surveillance video from the scene.

Officers say the driver of the truck, Pylant, was found inside the business where it was parked.

According to the sheriff's department, after further investigation at this location and questioning Pylant, he was arrested. They say Pylant did confess to stealing the trailer from the business in Reidland Saturday. The suspects' truck was impounded for possible forfeiture. They say a small quantity of Marijuana was also seized.

The stolen trailer was recovered late Monday afternoon from a location in Union City, Tenn. by McCracken County Sheriff's detectives.

The trailer is described as being a 2011 model Diamond brand10 foot Pacesetter single axle trailer. It was valued at $1,166.
