MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested a man after an investigation into the theft of gold jewelry and coins.
On April 23, officers began the investigation into the theft from 4870 Contest Road. They say they were able to find a person of interest, Joseph Fossett, 20, who also lived on Contest Road.
According to the sheriff's department, they discovered Fossett had recently sold gold chains that matched the description of those stolen from the victim at Easy Money Express on April 25.
Sheriff's detectives received a covert recording on Friday, May 3 of Fossett confessing to stealing the items in question from the victim's home. Also during the recording, they say they were able to determine that the coins taken from the victim were sold to Hoskins Coins on March 29.
Detectives confronted Fossett about the investigation and say they got a second confession to the theft of the items. Fossett was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail for theft by unlawful taking over $500.
The sheriff's department says the value of the coins and jewelry taken were valued at over $3,800.
