Man arrested after police find drugs in home | Crime
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Mayfield man was arrested for drugs after police served a search warrant.
Christopher Carney, 52, was charged with two counts wanton endangerment second degree, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, around 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 23 deputies responded to a home on Old Mayfield Road about a drug complaint. They say the complaint alleged that a child had found marijuana in his/her father's home.
The responding deputies found Carney and his two children at the home. After a brief investigation, deputies contacted detectives with sheriff's department Drug Division.
Around 12:45 p.m., detectives say they executed a search warrant at the home and during the search, they found over 1 ounce of marijuana as well as marijuana paraphernalia. They say marijuana and the paraphernalia were found in areas that were easily accessible to the children, who were both under the age of 12.
During the investigation, deputies say an employee of Social Services also responded to the home to speak to the children. The employee learned that one of the children was a graduate of the McCracken County D.A.R.E. program and told them he/she was able to identify the illegal drugs because of the program.
Deputies say a family member took custody of the children.
