2013 Beat Beethoven! 5K Run/Walk and Youth Run announced

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the second annual “Beat Beethoven! 5K” Run/Walk at Noble Park (Shelter #10) in Paducah on March 16.

Pre-registration is currently open until March 14.

This event is not your typical 5K run - it ties in the famous music of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and other musical education elements. At PSO Maestro Raffaele Ponti’s baton downbeat, participants will start as the famous opening notes of Beethoven’s 5th are played throughout the park. The goal is to complete the course before the music ends, therefore “beating” Beethoven. Prizes will be awarded to participants who “beat” Beethoven.

The “Beat Beethoven 5K” is in conjunction with the PSO’s concert, “Bach, Bernstein & Harmonica,” featuring harmonica player Robert Bonfiglio at the Carson Center later that evening of March 16.

Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to walk or run to the joyous sounds of this musical masterpiece. Race day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K run beginning at 9 a.m., followed by the 1 Mile Youth Run at 10 a.m. Pre-registration for the 5K is $25. Race day 5K registration is $30. Youth Run registration is $15.

Runners may register online at PaducahSymphony.org.
