I-24 eastbound lane shut down for 1 hour after truck, semi crash | News
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says one lane of eastbound I-24 was closed for about an hour after a two car crash involving a tractor trailer Monday morning.
According to the sheriff's department, on Monday, April 23 at about 8:34 a.m. James Byerley, 41, of Lovelaceville was driving eastbound on I-24 in a 2000 Freight liner tractor trailer. They say at the same time, 36-year-old Jeremy Smallwood of Paducah was driving eastbound on I-24 in a 1993 Ford F350, pulling a trailer.
Officers say the rear axle on Smallwoods' trailer lost its wheel and made the trailer swerve. They say Byerly saw the trailer swerving and slammed on his breaks, causing him to start to jack knife.Byerly hit Smallwoods' truck, then hit the side of the overpass at Exit 11.
The sheriff's department says neither occupants of the trucks were injured and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
