MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says one teen is dead after a car hit a tree at 2:27 a.m. Wednesday.
According to officers, the 2004 Honda Civic was occupied by 19-year-old Nicolas Robertson; 19-year-old Joseph Tune, both of Kevil and 19-year-old Dylan M. Rogers of Paducah. The car was westbound on Cairo Road near the Swanson Lane intersection and speeding when it left the road and hit a tree.
Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCracken County Coroners Office. The sheriff's department says both Robertson and Tune suffered minor injuries. They say Tune was treated at Lourdes Hospital and Robertson was not treated.
The sheriff's department says the roadway was closed for about five hours while the scene was cleaned up, as well as while the Paducah Police Accident Reconstruction Team was investigating.
Officers say the identity of the driver and position of the passengers are still under investigation.
