"Goofy" arrested in McCracken County
News

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS)- The search for Eric "Goofy" McCarty is now over.  Sheriff's deputies have been looking for McCarty since 2010.

That's when the Kentucky Department of Corrections Probation and Parole issued a parole violation warrant for him.

In February of this year Ballard County issued a warrant for McCarty's arrest.

They say he was involved in a police chase.  Deputies say he got away but when they checked his car they found meth and a handgun.

As a result of the alleged chase McCarty was charged with fleeing or evading, wanton endangerment, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a handgun by a felon.

In May of this year, McCracken County Sheriff's deputies say he got away again when they executed a search warrant at a business on Wice Church Road.  Deputies say McCarty ran from the business and they were not able to catch him.

Then around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday detectives with the Marshall and McCracken County Sheriff's Departments stopped a vehicle on the south side of Paducah and arrested McCarty and another man, James Davis.

Deputies say they found a large amount of meth in the car as well as a cutting agent.

Both McCarty and Davis where taken to the McCracken County Jail.  They both face various drug charges.
