Driver sent to hospital after blacking out, flipping truck

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A West Paducah man was injured in an accident Monday morning after he says he blacked out while driving, side-swiped a van and flipped his truck.

Paul W. Henson, 67, told police he was driving east on Interstate 24 around 7:45 a.m. in his 2000 GM pickup when he apparently blacked out. David Alvey, 55, also of West Paducah was driving east on I-24 when he says Henson's pickup side-swiped his van, then crossed the median into the westbound lanes.

Henson's truck then flipped and came to a rest on its roof. Police say something from Henson's truck hit the driver's side rear of a 2005 Kia driving west on I-24 by Michele L. Smith, 40, of Paducah, causing minor damage.

Police say Henson was taken to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment.
