MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS)- Officers say a man was arrested on outstanding warrants after what was thought at first to be an armed robbery call.
Byron L. Peeler, 42, of
Radcliff was arrested on Jefferson County warrants charging him with
parole violation and theft by unlawful taking (fraudulent use of a credit
card).
A number of police officers
were called to Kentucky Tobacco Outlet Thursday afternoon after a reported
armed robbery but officers say it turned out to be nothing more than a dispute
over money.
Officers say David Blanton of
Marion, OH, and two other men initially said that Byron L. Peeler had robbed
them of $75 at gunpoint at a motel nearby, then had fled to Kentucky Tobacco
Outlet and hid inside.
Officers found Peeler who was
unarmed. Peeler said he had argued with the men over money and had fled in
fear.
Blanton and the other men were
warned about filing a false police report and admitted during questioning by
detectives that there had been no gun involved.
Officers found two Jefferson County warrants for
Peeler's arrest and took him into custody.
He was
booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
