Author, former NFL player to speak at McCracken Co. middle school | News

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A New York Times bestselling author and former NFL player will speak to middle school students in McCracken County on September 6. 

Tim Green will speak to students at Lone Oak Middle School at 8 a.m., Reidland Middle School at 9:30 a.m. and Heath Middle School at 12:30 p.m.

As a boy, Green had two dreams: playing in the NFL and becoming a best-selling author. Both of those dreams have come true. After studying writing in college where he was an All American football player, Green was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons where he was a top defensive player for eight years.

After writing more than a dozen books for adults, many of them best-sellers, Green began a series of best-selling novels for kids set in a world of sports taken from his own experiences as an athlete and a coach. In that time, he has spoken to tens of thousands of kids at hundreds of schools across the country about the importance of school and the joys and benefits of reading.

Green lives with his wife Illyssa, their five kids and two dogs in upstate New York. When Tim isn't writing, he enjoys boating, fishing, hunting, reading and spending time with his family and friends.
