Man accused of setting estranged wife's house on fire
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS)- Police say an investigation into a house fire Thursday led to the arrest of the resident's estranged husband.
Norman Landers, 44, was charged with first-degree arson in connection with the fire at the home of Angela Landers at 1218 Salem Street in Paducah.
Police say fire crews were called at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday after Angela Landers and her father were awakened by smoke in their home. A short time later, Norman Landers arrived, allegedly to check on his estranged wife.
Norman Landers was arrested at the scene for violating a domestic violence order, which requires he have no contact or communication with Angela Landers.
The fire marshal determined that the fire started outside at the back of the residence and concluded the fire was suspicious. He requested police detectives to assist in the investigation.
Det. Justin Crowell responded, and interviewed Norman Landers at the police department.
Investigators say Sanders admitted having set the fire.
No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters were at the scene until 3:30 a.m., dousing hot spots.
