Bicyclist injured after police say he rode into path of oncoming truck

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Paducah Police say a bicyclist was injured Thursday, October 11 around 12:40 p.m. after he rode into the path of an oncoming truck.

Police say Clayton A. Gilliam, 76, of Paducah told them he turned onto North 12th Street from Jefferson Street in his 1990 Dodge pick-up, and as he drove toward Broadway, a bicyclist rode from a parking lot into his path.

They say witnesses confirmed that Pierce, 23, of Paducah had ridden his bicycle  through the parking lot from Community Kitchen, 1225 Broadway, and into the street in front of Gilliam's truck.

Pierce was taken by Mercy Ambulance to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment.
