PADUCAH, KY (KFVS)- A McCracken County man is accused of stealing items over a five year period from property owned by the Department of Energy in Paducah.
Chris Noles, 38, of West Paducah, Kentucky was charged with receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more.
According to the sheriff's office and USEC, an investigation began on Thursday centered around allegations of property being stolen off a site owned by the Department
of Energy property over the last five years.
A joint investigation led detectives to a home on 8845 West Airport Road.
Detectives questioned Chris Noles at the home, who officers say is an employee of Los Alamos Technical Associates ( L.A.T.A. ) of Kentucky. L.A.T.A. is a sub-contractor for the Department of Energy.
Investigators say after confronted with the allegations, Noles immediately admitted to being a participant of removing L.A.T.A. property from the facility.
According to the sheriff's office, Noles admitted and assisted detectives in pointing out many of these items that were located on his property. Some of the items recovered included a single axle, 8' tilt trailer, a 10,000 watt welder, drills, saws, grinders, wrenches and various other hand tools.
This case is pending further investigation by both McCracken and Ballard County authorities.
Officers say additional charges and arrest are likely.
