KSP Post 1 to conduct traffic safety checkpoints | News

(KFVS) - The Kentucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout Post 1 to check that drivers are following the laws including not driving under the influence.

KSP uses traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for drivers using public roadways and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statuses.

During the checkpoints, police will be making sure seat belts are used, drivers have the proper registration and insurance and a valid driver's license. Violations of law or other public safety issues that arise will be addressed.

According to KSP, drivers stopped in traffic safety checkpoints are asked to have a driver's license, vehicle registration receipt and proof of insurance readily accessible. They say drivers with this information in hand, those with  no violations of law and minimal road congestion can expect to be delayed for no more than 30 seconds to a few minutes.
