WB I-24 at one lane near Ohio River Bridge after semi crash | News
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS)- Westbound Interstate 24 is down to one lane between Exit 4 and the Ohio River Bridge in McCracken County after a semi crash on Wednesday morning.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports that passenger vehicles may detour via the US 45 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Brookport. This is also known as the Irvin Cobb Bridge. The bridge is limited to vehicles less than 8 ft. wide.
A spokesperson for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the truck, and a lost load of industrial paper, went down over the embankment on the westbound approach to the I-24 Ohio River Bridge near the two-mile marker in McCracken County.
The moving of the truck is expected to be finished by Wednesday afternoon, and extensive cleanup and repair of the slope will be have to be done.
Drivers should expect to run into one lane traffic in this area until about dark on Wednesday. There may also be short traffic stops at times.
A guardrail crew will likely be at this site on Thursday to repair an extensive section of guardrail that was taken out by the crash.
