National Quilt Museum's director of marketing leaving position | News
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The director of marketing for The National Quilt Museum announced she is leaving the position to devote full-time to her expanding business.
Susan K. Edwards established Wildhair Studios, LLC in 2003. The company produces a line of quilt-themed graphic t-shirts. Edwards is a marketing professional, as well as an entrepreneur and graphic cartoonist.
Edwards quickly discovered the quilters liked the colorful t-shirts with her quirky humor and whimsical designs.
“When the quilters arrived in town every year for the big quilt show, I couldn’t keep the shirts in stock,” Edwards said. “I’d have customers come in grinning and pointing to last year’s shirt they were wearing, asking for the new designs.”
The company recently introduced a nation-wide wholesale pricing program and created a fund-raising option for quilt guilds. Edwards also expanded the line with several new designs.
“I’ve been extremely pleased with the success of the new designs and programs,” Edwards said. “I’ve loved working at the museum but my expanding business now demands my full-time.”
The quilt guild fund-raising program is simplified so members don’t have to handle the orders or the money. Edwards said the best-selling shirts are great fun to wear to meetings or guild events, but they also serve another purpose which is to build guild identity and raise funds for projects.
