Lone Oak Middle Band selected to perform at state conference

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Lone Oak Middle School Band has been selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association professional development conference, held in Louisville in February.

The LOMS Band was selected from an applicant pool of bands from across Kentucky. The application process involves submitting a live, unedited recording of a performance to a panel of judges for ranking. Only three middle school bands were selected to perform at this year's conference. This is the first time since 1983 that a band from McCracken County has been selected to play at the event.

"The students at Lone Oak Middle School are dedicated to excellence and our program is strongly supported by the families, administration and faculty of our school," said Lone Oak Middle School band director Kara Boyd. "We are honored to represent Western Kentucky, McCracken County and Lone Oak Middle School."

The 8th grade band students will travel to Louisville to perform at the conference. Lone Oak Middle School has 180 students in grades 6-8 involved in the band program.
