Restrictions on U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge to continue | Transportation
PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - State transportation officials say work on the U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge is expected to continue until around September 22.
The work has restricted traffic to a seven-foot maximum vehicle width and 19-foot maximum vehicle length.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the work zone restriction prohibits trucks, buses, motor homes and vehicles pulling trailers from crossing the bridge.
The work zone includes:
· Seven-foot maximum vehicle width
· 19-foot maximum vehicle length
· No dual-wheeled vehicles
· Barrier walls for worker safety
· 24-hour police presence with strict work zone enforcement
The restrictions limit passenger vehicles and light trucks only on the bridge until the work is completed. Police are posted at each end of the bridgework zone to enforce the restrictions.
One lane of traffic in the work zone is controlled by an automated signal, and it has created some delays during peak travel.
